    City leaders sign charter on May 6 to create Conway Corporation.

    Conway Corporation signs lease to operate Conway’s electric light plant on June 22.

  • 1930

    In February Conway City Council turns over operations of city’s waterworks and sewer plant to Conway Corporation.

  • 1957

    Conway Corporation assumes responsibility of city’s sewage collection system in November.

  • 1962

    Conway Corporation enters into contract with AP&L for the purchase of a block of electrical power. Up until this time, the city’s power plant has produced all the electric power required by customers.

  • 1963

    Conway Corporation completes a one million gallon daily water plant at Gleason and a 14-inch cast iron water main from the plant to the 0.8 million gallon clearwell on top of Cadron Ridge.

  • 1966

    Conway Corporation recommends to the Conway City Council that it reserve the cable franchise for the city of Conway. The corporation felt a nonprofit municipal cable system would fit well with its publicly-owned electric, water and wastewater system.

  • 1967

    Conway Corporation completes construction on a four-million gallon per day addition to the water treatment plant at Gleason, a new one-million gallon overhead water storage tank at the YBMA fairgrounds and new 24-inch, 16-inch, 12-inch and 10-inch water mains to and in the city.

  • 1974

    Rapid growth requires the wastewater treatment plant be increased and Conway Corporation begins plans for a new wastewater treatment plant for the city to meet new effluent limits proposed by the EPA and the Arkansas Department of Pollution Control and Ecology.

  • 1977

    Conway Corporation receives a federal grant to pay one-half the cost of a water system to serve the area on top of Skyline Drive and Cadron Ridge.

  • 1979

    Conway Corporation Board Chair Frank Robins III signs a resolution accepting the exclusive franchise to operate a cable television system in and for the city of Conway

  • 1980

    Stone Dam Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant and the East Sewer Outfall System begins operations in February.

    Conway Corporation begins receiving electrical power from a two percent interest in the White Bluff generating plant. Total electrical energy consumed that year was 208,689,200 kW hours — almost ten times the amount consumed in 1960.

  • 1981

    Jay and Roxanna Witt at 516 Grove Street become the first to receive cable transmission when they were randomly selected to test final installation procedures.

    Conway Corporation decommissions its generating plant.

  • 1983

    Conway Corporation begins receiving electrical power from two-percent interest in Independence generating plant.

    After 20 years of negotiations, work is completed on a new water reservoir for the city. In September, Conway’s primary water source is dedicated and named James H. Brewer Lake.

  • 1985

    Conway Corporation remodels old light plant to house main offices.

  • 1991

    Conway Corporation Service Center opens and houses the corporation’s electric, water and cable departments.

  • 1995

    Construction begins on a city-wide cable conversion to a fiber-coax hybrid. Project cost was estimated $5.6 million.

    Construction beings on an 8-million gallon storage tank near the Gleason Water Treatment Plant to increase the city’s water storage capacity.

  • 1996

    Conway Corporation completes cable system fiber-coax rebuild.

  • 1997

    Conway Corporation purchases three substations from Entergy at a cost of $5.955 million including bond costs.

    Conway Corporation becomes the third company in the country and the fifth in the world to offer high-speed, broadband cable internet service.

  • 1998

    Conway Corporation implements a GIS (geographic information system) program.

  • 2000

    Conway Corporation issues $2.655 million in water revenue bonds to fund improvements in the city’s water systems including a $1 million water intake improvement at Lake Brewer.

  • 2001

    Conway Corporation’s fourth electric substation — Conway-Donaghey — comes online.

  • 2002

    Conway Corporation begins offering digital cable to customers.

  • 2003

    Conway Corporation adds high definition cable service to offerings.

  • 2004

    Conway Corporation expands a water treatment plant, adds a call center to assist customers and launches a wireless hotspot pilot program.

  • 2008

    Conway Corporation launches digital telephone service and begins offering Video OnDemand services.

    Conway Corporation launches Energy Smart program to recognize builders and homes that implement high-efficiency construction and equipment measures.

    Conway Corporation’s fifth electric substation — Conway-Tyler — comes online.

    Conway Corporation begins offering free wireless hotspots in downtown Conway.

  • 2010

    Conway Corporation began offering increased Internet speeds up to 50 Mbps through the use of Docsis 3.0 technology.

  • 2011

    Conway Corporation adds multi-room DVR service to cable offerings.

  • 2014

    Conway Corporation completes construction on Tupelo Bayou Wastewater Treatment Plant and decommissions Stone Dam Wastewater Treatment Plant.

  • 2015

    Conway Corp pledged $3 million to the University of Central Arkansas for the construction and renovation of the Lewis Science Center on the UCA campus.

    Conway Corp launched gigabit internet service to businesses located in Conway’s Data District in downtown Conway.

    Conway Corp completed construction of its 5,700 square-foot data center.

    An updated logo and brand was introduced to employees and customers in October.

  • 2016

    Security and Automation services were added to Conway Corp’s service offerings.

    Conway Corp began offering 1 Gig internet service to its residential customers in December.

  • 2017

    Conway Corp began welcoming customers to its new Customer Care Center in mid-February. The three-story, 30,000-square-foot facility features customer care space, a payment drive-thru, training space and executive staff offices.

    The board of directors announced plans for the Arnold Innovation Center named to honor retiring CEO Richard Arnold.

  • 2018

    Conway Corp completed the replacement legacy mechanical and electronic meters at homes and businesses with advanced digital electric meters and began work to replace water meters.

  • 2019

    In December, Conway Corp opened Conway Solar at Blaney Hill. Located on the site of the closed Conway landfill, the facility will produce an estimated 1.8 million kilowatt hours per year powering more than 150 homes annually.

  • 2020

    In April, Conway Corp announced a 20-year purchase power agreement with Lightsource bp for the development of a 132 megawatt solar project — Conway Solar at Happy — to be located in White County.

    Launched ConwayCorpTV, a next-generation IPTV streaming video product.

  • 2021

    Conway Corp completed electric and water meter upgrades across the city.

    Launched the online electric outage map and service application for customers.

    Launched Managed WiFi – a faster, more reliable network that gives users a more controlled and personalized internet experience.

  • 2022

    The Arnold Innovation Center officially opened its doors in September 2022 in downtown Conway. Powered by Conway Corp, the workspace is named after former Conway Corp CEO Richard Arnold and is a destination for entrepreneurs to connect with one another while having access to necessary resources to create, launch and grow businesses.

  • 2023

    Conway Solar at Happy – a 132-megawatt solar project located in White County – begins delivering home-grown, clean energy to Conway Corp customers. The 700-acre solar farm has more than 300,000 solar photovoltaic modules that powers more than 21,000 homes annually.
