Conway Corp Property & Procurement Manager Bart Joyner is retiring this month after 35 years of service to Conway Corp.
Bart began his career with Conway Corp in February 1991 as a materials handler. He was promoted to assistant manager of materials in January 1992. After spending seven years working in the electrical distribution industry, he returned to Conway Corp in 2012 as manager of materials and fleet operations and was promoted to manager of property and procurement in 2018.
As manager of property and procurement, Bart oversaw warehouse and materials operations, fleet services, damage prevention and procurement functions that help support Conway Corp’s utility and telecommunication services. Throughout his career, he helped the company navigate major challenges, including severe weather events, supply chain disruptions and the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Bart has been a valued leader and a trusted colleague throughout his tenure, and we are deeply grateful for the many contributions he has made to Conway Corp over the years,” Conway Corp Chief Financial Officer Erin Brown said. “Bart is a highly respected employee who served Conway Corp well. We are thankful for Bart’s leadership and service.”
Reflecting on his career, Bart said the people he worked with made the greatest impact on his experience at Conway Corp.
“There are several parts of the job that I’ll miss doing day in and day out, but it really comes down to the people I’ve worked with and the people I’ve worked for,” he said. “The people at Conway Corp are what make this place special. Many of them are not just coworkers, they’re friends.”
Bart said one of the most rewarding aspects of his career has been serving the Conway community.
“The utility industry is unique, exciting and challenging,” he said. “We’re stewards for the citizens of Conway, and you have to have an attitude of service. Providing the products and services we do is very rewarding.”
As he prepares for retirement, Bart is looking forward to spending more time with his wife, Marcia, their children and traveling. A river cruise on the Danube is already on the calendar for next year.
When asked what he looks forward to most, Bart had a simple answer.
“One extra hour of sleep each morning,” he said.
Bart also expressed gratitude to the leaders and coworkers who helped shape his career over the years.
“I’ve had the opportunity to work with a lot of great people throughout my career,” Bart said. “I’m thankful for the leaders of Conway Corp and for everyone I’ve worked alongside over the years. They helped make this a rewarding career and a great place to work.”
