Conway Corp Water Meter Technician Kerry “Butch” Beaty is retiring this month after a 26-year career of dedication to the Conway community.
Butch began his journey with Conway Corp in June 1999 as a utility worker apprentice. Known for his dedication and strong work ethic, he was promoted to utility worker in 2002. In 2021, his continued commitment to excellence earned him the role of senior utility worker, and just a year later, he was promoted to his current position as water meter technician.
In this role, Butch tackled a wide range of responsibilities – from running problem tickets and maintaining meters to fixing leaks and inspecting sewers. But it wasn’t just the technical work that made him stand out. It was the way he approached every task – with care, humility and a team-first attitude. Over the years, Beaty became a trusted member of the water systems team, admired for his knowledge of the job and respected for the way he treated those around him. His presence on the crew was more than just professional – it was personal.
“It’s hard to say goodbye to someone who’s been not just a colleague, but a friend,” Conway Corp Water Systems Senior Foreman Frank Fason said. “It has been a pleasure to work with Butch these many years, and I hope he has a great retirement.”
That sense of friendship and camaraderie is mutual.
When asked what he’ll miss most, Butch didn’t hesitate:
“Definitely my coworkers.”
As he enters this next chapter, Butch is excited to spend more time with his growing family, including nine grandchildren, ranging from 21 years old to a new baby expected later this year.
For those just starting out in the field, he leaves behind this piece of simple but powerful advice:
“You never can go wrong with the L’s: Look, Learn and Listen!”
Congratulations, Butch!
