Conway Corp Lead Telecom Installer Technician Wesley Manion earned first place overall at the SCTE Broadband Skills Challenge earlier this month at the Conway Expo Center.
The annual event, formerly called the Razorback Cable Games, hosted by the SCTE Razorback Chapter, brings together broadband technicians from across Arkansas to compete in a series of games designed to sharpen technical skill sets while promoting friendly competition among industry professionals.
Wesley earned two first-place medals, three second-place medals and one third-place medal during the competition. His first-place overall finish allows him to compete at the SCTE national competition in Atlanta, Georgia, representing Conway Corp and the SCTE Razorback Chapter.
“This competition highlights the talent and dedication of broadband technicians across the state, and Wesley’s performance was outstanding,” Conway Corp Cable Telecommunication Systems Manager Tommy Nolen said. “We are proud of the way all of our technicians represented Conway Corp and demonstrated their skills throughout the event.”
In addition to Wesley’s first-place finish, several Conway Corp employees earned top honors during the competition. Telecom Trouble Technician 3 Jake Stewart placed second overall and earned four medals, while Telecom Business Class Services Technician 2 Lane McNew placed third overall and also brought home four medals. Telecom Installer Technician 1 Cyeth Arendall earned three medals during the event. Telecom Business Class Services Technician 1 Austin Clagett, and Telecom Construction Technician 1 Kyle Freeman also competed for Conway Corp.
Companies participating in this year’s challenge included Conway Corp, Comcast, Ritter, Fidelity, Altice USA, WEHCO, OzarksGo and Connect2First.
