Help us congratulate Conway Corp Wastewater Plant Operator Marvin Koone retired last month after dedicating more than 23 years of service to Conway Corp and the Conway community.
Marvin joined the company as an operator apprentice in 2001. He was promoted to plant operator of the Tupelo Bayou Wastewater Plant in September 2004.
In this role, he was responsible for treating wastewater, assisting the plant superintendent while operating and maintaining stationary mechanical equipment such as water pumping equipment engines, air compressors, generators, motors, turbines, chemical insertion units, etc. to provide utilities services to the city of Conway.
Marvin said the co-workers he worked with day in and day out, were one of the reasons he stayed at Conway Corp so long.
“Working with such a great group of guys make it hard for me to leave,” he said. “I’m really going to miss my buddies.”
Wastewater Plant Superintendent Kody Miller described Koone as a leader who will be missed.
“Marvin has been an excellent operator, going above and beyond,” Miller said. “He has always gone the extra mile to not only keep the plants running, but also take care of the next guy coming in.”
Marvin enjoyed his time at Conway Corp and laughed and said he is looking forward to spending more time ‘irritating’ his wife and his two grandchildren.
“I’ll have more time to irritate my wife a lot, but I’m looking forward to taking a step back and slowing things down. I get to enjoy my grandkids and the things that I always have to rush to do. My grandkids are both in sports and they keep me on the move.”
After reflecting on his time, he leaves us with these final words of advice:
“Stay with it. Your hard work will pay off in the long run, I promise. I would not be here without this company.”
Congrats, Marvin!
