As we celebrate Public Power Week, Conway Corp proudly recognizes the employees who power our community with integrity, reliability and service. This week, we are spotlighting Shawn, our Senior Electric Meterman, whose dedication and experience have made a lasting impact over his 24-year career.
A Day in the Life
Each morning, Shawn begins his day by reviewing work order tickets for the electric meter crew. His team is responsible for addressing electric meter customer and billing inquiries, performing periodic meter testing, conducting commercial meter installations and tests and overseeing new multiplier meter installations. His focus on accuracy and quality ensures Conway Corp customers receive dependable and efficient service.
A Career with Purpose
Shawn joined Conway Corp in February 2001 after hearing it was one of the best places in Conway to work — a belief that has only grown stronger through the years.
“I had always heard Conway Corp was the best place in Conway to work,” Shawn said. “I applied in late 2000 and was hired in February 2001 by Jim West. Conway Corp has definitely proved itself.”
Commitment to Customers
For Shawn, the most rewarding (and sometimes most challenging) part of his role is helping customers understand their electric service and ensuring their satisfaction.
“When a customer has a question or concern about their electric usage, I want to leave their residence knowing I’ve answered all of their questions and that they are a satisfied customer,” he explained.
Public Power in Action
Public Power Week celebrates the value of community-owned utilities like Conway Corp — neighbors serving neighbors. For Shawn, that mission is deeply personal.
“Working for Conway Corp is one of the best decisions I have made,” he said. “After 24.5 years of service, I still look forward to coming to work every day. Conway Corp is a great company with great customers.”
Shawn embodies what it means to serve the Conway community with pride and dedication. His professionalism and care help ensure Conway continues to benefit from safe, reliable and locally owned electric service — the true meaning of public power.
About Public Power Week
Public Power Week is an annual nationwide celebration that recognizes the work of more than 2,000 community-owned, not-for-profit electric utilities across the country. These utilities provide reliable, affordable and sustainable energy and are governed locally to serve the needs of their communities.
At Conway Corp, we are proud to be part of this public power tradition, delivering dependable service to our neighbors while reinvesting in the community we call home.
