Water Rate Adjustment

After careful consideration, the Conway City Council approved a water rate adjustment during its February 2024 meeting to address the impact of inflation on the price of water collection, distribution and treatment as well as critical water infrastructure.

The decision came after conducting a comprehensive cost-of-service and rate study which determined that a rate adjustment is needed to maintain our priorities in the reliability and quality of service for customers.

At Conway Corp, we are guided by our mission to serve our community rather than profit. We only raise rates when necessary to maintain the integrity of our operations, which allows us to focus on the quality of our service to you, our friends and neighbors.

We have not asked the City Council for a water rate adjustment since 2016. An adjustment is necessary now to cover the increased cost of doing business in order to ensure the financial stability of Conway Corp while also working to maintain the quality, reliability and integrity of the services we provide.

RATE ADJUSTMENT

The Conway City Council voted unanimously in February 2024 to adopt a water rate adjustment for all customers. Your water bill is comprised of a fixed monthly charge and charges for how much water you use. Beginning April 1, 2024, these charges – customer and consumption – will increase by 7 percent.

The average Conway Corp residential water customer using 5,000 gallons of water per month will see a $3 increase per month. It is important to note that the total increase for individual customers will vary based on specific water usage.

In addition, customers will see a new Watershed Protection Fee. The fee funds our Watershed Management Program, which includes land acquisition, water quality monitoring and other measures to protect our drinking water supply from potential sources of pollution.

This monthly fee is fixed per meter and determined by meter size.

OUR COMMITMENT

While adjusting rates is never an easy choice, our customers are always our top priority with these decisions. We will continue our mission of exceeding our customers’ expectations in producing and delivering safe, affordable, reliable, innovative and environmentally-sound utility and telecommunication services while enhancing the quality of life in our community.

Looking ahead, we will continue to invest in modernized equipment and infrastructure as well as provide customers with up-to-date information on how to reduce water use and get the most value out of your service.
