Help us congratulate Electric Systems Senior Designer Tony Leach who won the company’s annual Safety Leadership Award.
The Safety Leadership Award recognizes an employee who inspires, improves and maintains best practices in safety.
Tony was nominated by multiple co-workers for his consistent commitment to putting safety first. According to multiple nominations, he wears required personal protective equipment and holds others accountable each and every time he steps on a worksite.
He was also commended for his willingness to explain things when others have questions.
One nomination said:
“Tony has been at the forefront of holding our contractors to the same level of excellence we expect out of our own employees. People around Tony benefit from his knowledge, care and oration of safety. He was instrumental in the development of the fast fields that engineering currently uses.”
“Tony is well deserving for such an honor,” Electric Systems Senior Engineer Ronson Smith said. “He puts safety first and always has his PPE at the ready.”
Though he does this daily, Tony was still surprised when he won the award.
“I am surprised and honored because my day-to-day activities seldom put me in what I would deem harm’s way,” he said. “The ones I consider worthy of the Safety Leadership award are the employees who work with either high voltage electric or are in a trench dealing with main breaks. Conway Corp’s Safety Training Program is doing an excellent job of not only informing employees of potential workplace hazards, but also taking steps to provide a safe working environment.”
Tony joined the company in July 1994 as a groundman. He was promoted to electric systems designer 1 in January 2001 and electric systems designer 2 in March 2006. He was promoted to his current role in November 2019.
