Help us congratulate our CEO Bret Carroll on being named treasurer of the American Public Power Association (APPA) for the 2026–2027 term!
Bret was installed as an officer during APPA’s National Conference earlier this month in Boston.
As treasurer, he will serve on APPA’s Executive Committee and help provide strategic leadership and financial oversight for the national organization, which represents more than 2,000 community-owned electric utilities serving approximately 49 million people across the United States.
Bret has served on APPA’s Board of Directors since 2020, representing Region 4, which includes Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. He was first elected as treasurer in 2025 and will continue serving in that leadership role during the 2026–2027 term.
“It is an honor to continue serving alongside public power leaders from across the country,” Bret said. “Community-owned utilities play a vital role in delivering safe, reliable and affordable electric service, and I appreciate the opportunity to help advance APPA’s mission while representing Conway Corp and the customers we proudly serve.”
APPA is the national organization representing not-for-profit, community-owned electric utilities. The association advocates for public power at the federal level while providing policy guidance, education, training and resources to help utilities strengthen the communities they serve.
Bret began his career at Conway Corp in 1998 as the chief financial officer and was promoted to CEO in 2017. In addition to his work with APPA, he serves on several local, state and national boards focused on public power, economic development and community service.
Congratulations, Bret!
