Conway Corp was recognized with the American Public Power Association’s (APPA) Safety Award of Excellence for its commitment to safe operating practices in 2024. The utility received the Diamond Award in the category for utilities with 167,000 worker-hours of annual worker exposure.
More than 200 utilities participated in the 2024 APPA Safety Awards, which evaluate entrants based on incident-free records, safety programs and overall workplace safety culture. Utilities are categorized by worker-hours and ranked according to their incidence rate, which is determined by the number of work-related reportable injuries or illnesses as defined by OSHA.
“We work hard to foster a strong culture of safety,” Conway Corp Safety Director Brent Fason said. “This award is a testament to the dedication and effort our team puts into ensuring a safe work environment for everyone.”
“Delivering power to communities is critical work, but it comes with risks,” APPA’s Safety Committee Chair and Vice President of Electric Cities Jon Beasley said. “This award honors utilities that prioritize safety, follow best practices and put the well-being of their employees and customers first.”
APPA has presented the Safety Awards of Excellence for more than 66 years, recognizing not-for-profit, community-owned utilities that power more than 2,000 towns and cities nationwide. Conway Corp remains committed to maintaining the highest safety standards and ensuring a safe and reliable utility service for the community.
