Conway Corp Lead Installer Technician Robert McCray is retiring this month after dedicating more than 26 years of service to Conway Corp and the Conway community.
Robert leaves behind a legacy of integrity, excellence and quiet leadership that will be remembered by coworkers and customers alike.
Robert began his career at Conway Corp in February 1999 as an installer trainee. Over the years, he steadily advanced through the ranks. He was promoted to installer in 2000, installer technician in 2001, service technician in 2004 and senior installer in 2007. In 2021, he was promoted to lead telecom installer technician, a role that capped off a remarkable career.
Throughout his tenure, Robert was known not just for his technical skills, but for the way he carried himself – with kindness, patience and a smile.
“Robert has been a tremendous asset to everyone who had the privilege of working alongside him,” Telecom Installation Senior Foreman Jeff Meriweather said. “His work ethic and mentorship set the standard, and I can honestly say I never saw him without a smile or a kind word. He leaves behind a legacy of positivity, dedication and quiet leadership that will be missed.”
Conway Corp Cable Telecommunications Systems Manager Tommy Nolen echoed that sentiment.
“Robert has been a pillar of integrity and reliability in the telecommunications team throughout his career,” Nolen said. “He was the first person to train me on installs. I can recall his desire to connect with the customers in an effort to better serve them. I could always count on Robert to uphold our company’s mission in serving our customers with excellence. Our prayers and best wishes go with Robert as he walks out this next chapter of his life during retirement. While he is not clocking in and installing telecom services any longer, the impact he has made on his team and our customers will last for years to come.”
As he reflects on his time at Conway Corp, Robert says he will miss the people he worked with every day, but he’s looking forward to spending more time with his wife of 39 years, Latishia, his grandchildren and his church family.
When asked what advice he has for young people and new employees just starting out, Robert’s message was simple:
“Make every day count. You’re blessed. Choose to keep joy in your heart.”
Congratulations, Robert!
