Conway Corp Assistant to the CEO Bill Bethea is retiring this month after more than 27 years of service to Conway Corp and the Conway community.
Bill was hired in April 1999 as assistant to the CEO and served in that role throughout his career. In his position, he provided oversight on legal matters, contracts, regulatory issues and legislative activity, working closely with leadership to help ensure the organization remained informed, compliant and well-positioned for the future.
“Bill has been a trusted advisor to me and a steady presence for our organization,” Conway Corp Chief Executive Officer Bret Carroll said. “He has been a great colleague and an even better friend, and he always told you what you needed to hear with honesty and diplomacy.”
Throughout his career, Bill played an instrumental role in Conway Corp’s continued evolution, particularly within the telecom industry. His work included cost evaluation, programming contract negotiations and building strong relationships with organizations such as NCTC and ACA Connects. He also contributed to bond issues, legislative efforts at the local, state and federal levels, risk mitigation and general legal matters, drawing on his background in investment banking.
In retirement, Bill plans to travel and visit national parks with his wife, Denise, and spend more time volunteering to address food insecurity in Arkansas. He also plans to continue his education through programs such as LifeQuest.
He said he will miss the camaraderie of his coworkers and the challenges his role provided.
“Conway Corp has been a great place to work,” Bill said. “I’ve enjoyed the people I’ve worked with and the challenges the job has provided.”
For nearly three decades, he has played a vital role in supporting Conway Corp’s mission and helping guide the organization through growth and change.
He leaves us with these final words of advice:
“Be ready to learn. There are so many opportunities for people to grow and learn here.”
Congrats, Bill!
