Engineering Service Development Technician Leslie Guffey is retiring from Conway Corp after more than 30 years of service to the company and community.
She was hired as a water systems designer in February 1996 and was promoted to engineering service development technician in June 2008. In her role, she worked with developers, electricians, plumbers and homeowners throughout Conway, helping coordinate utility services for new homes, subdivisions and commercial developments.
“Leslie’s dedication and knowledge have made a lasting impact on Conway Corp and the customers we serve,” Conway Corp Engineering & Planning Manager Dale Gottsponer said. “We appreciate her many years of service and wish her the very best in retirement.”
Over the years, Leslie became a familiar face to many contractors and developers across the community and said the relationships she built with customers and coworkers became one of the most rewarding parts of her career.
“I’m really going to miss my regular customers and the people I work with every day,” she said. “After working together for so many years, they become more than coworkers. They’re people who supported me through some difficult times in my life, and I’ll always be grateful for that.”
Throughout her career, Leslie stepped in wherever help was needed, including assisting during major outages and storm recovery efforts. She recalled helping answer phones and enter outage tickets during the 2000 ice storm and volunteering to help dispatch crews during the June 2023 storm restoration efforts.
As she looks forward to retirement, she said she is excited to spend more time with her family, including visiting her son in Pensacola and her daughter in Northwest Arkansas, as well as traveling with her parents.
She leaves this advice to current and future Conway Corp employees: “When you’re young, retirement feels far away, but the years go by fast. Conway Corp has great benefits and a strong retirement program, and that makes a huge difference later in life.”
Congratulations, Leslie!
